I NEED HELP! Microsoft Word Processor..converting file?

I had a project that was due by midnight yesturday. Well I sent it over to the professor BUT she said she wasnt able to view the attachment I sent. So, I tried opening the attachment on my laptop and I didnt have anything luck. I saved it as a *wps* file at first. I was able to save it as a *doc file BUT when I open my project in a updated version of Word. My project layout is a mess! I really need help. Sheesh I shouldve never used word processor...
